NDC returned to Sydney this year and SSW TV was there alongside .NET Rocks! to catch all of the action with our Ask Me Anything! sessions.

As usual there were a host of top industry pros talking about various subjects related to software development. This year, SSW TV worked alongside .NET Rocks! to run an entire track of live interviews with some of those speakers after their sessions and talked about a number of topics.

In this AMA, SSW’s Thiago Passos, interviews James Lewis, a keen member of the ThoughtWorks Technical Advisory Board, about how software architecture has evolved over time, and of his experiences with monolith, microservices, and cloud applications.

James Lewis studied Astrophysics in the 90's but got sick of programming in Fortran. As a member of the ThoughtWorks Technical Advisory Board, the group that creates the Technology Radar, he contributes to industry adoption of open source and other tools, techniques, platforms and languages. For the last few years he has been working as a coding architect on projects built using microservices; exploring new patterns and ways of working as he goes. James has spoken at many international conferences. His previous topics range from domain driven design, SOA and the future of the web to agile adoption patterns and lean thinking. He's also heavily involved in the fledgling microservice community. He rather likes the fact that he got to describe his take on things jointly with Martin Fowler in a paper hat is influencing how people see the future of software architecture.

Thiago Passos joined SSW in 2014 as a Senior Software Architect. He's specialized in SharePoint and .NET, preferring C#.NET over VB.NET, working on windows and web applications, including some distributed applications and web services. Thiago is passionate about technology and learning new skills. He's got over 15 years of experience, mainly with the Microsoft stack. He's currently in love with Angular and Azure.
