Everyone has a mobile phone but what actually goes into building an app, getting it onto a device, and keeping it running well? In this Mobile Development 101 session, Hark takes you through the fundamentals of modern mobile development, from choosing between Android and iOS to deciding whether native or cross-platform development is right for your project. Hark compares Kotlin, Swift, React Native, Expo, .NET MAUI and Flutter, including the trade-offs around performance, platform APIs, codebases and operating system updates. He also tackles an increasingly important question: if AI can generate native code, do we still need cross-platform frameworks? Then it’s time to build. Hark creates a Flutter CRM app that talks to an external API, covering widgets, hot reload, state management, loading and error states, navigation with GoRouter, and dynamically rendering company data.

Once the app is built, you’ll follow its journey into the hands of users including distribution through the Google Play Store, APKs, Apple App Store and TestFlight — before exploring telemetry with tools such as Firebase Crashlytics, PostHog and Sentry. Finally, Hark explores how AI is changing mobile development through Skills, MCP servers, simulators and coding agents, including tooling for Flutter, Android and iOS.

Stop Using 👍 Wrong in Teams | Adam Cogan

A quick communication tip from Adam Cogan: don’t use 👍 as a catch-all response when someone assigns you a task in Teams, Slack, or Google Chat.
